The frescoThe vision of the night is a pond where human dreams and illusions live: The only true thing is the statue, rapresenting human being who tries to disentagle himslef among the various vanities of life, and finds solace in the hope there might exist some good entity that protects him. The mermaidIn the pond there lives the mermaid, this proud, beautiful woman, so sure of herself that does not fear to turn her back to the dragon. Her beauty is ambiguous, the femme fatale, she embodies the ideal of unreachable perfection... and she is one of the illusions of the pond. Her hear is adorned with a gold and pearl net like ancient Greece women. |

The StatueThe female reassuring presence, who invites inside the house, is another: the statue, who seems to reassure the visitor pointing at the unicorn, the creature embodying innocence and pureness: "nothing evil may happen in this house, if the unicorn dwells here with us" and with the hands it seems to light torches from the fire of the monster, to make the house comfortable and warm. |
The unicornThe unicorn is the patron of the house, the utmost goodness, innocence not touched by experience. |
The butterfly winged dragonThe dragon may be intended as the Evil, opposed to the unicorn, ambiguous and charming with butterfly wings. |
the little frogA nice detail... |
