sixth fresco

The fresco

The city is organized on different floors, that is terraced on more walls, so as to alternate the lawn and the buildings. The buildings are inspired by architectonic motifs from different cultures of the world, of course not every one of them, the ones I appreciated best and were most suitable for this city, which would be multi-ethnic. I drew again the Russian churches and mosques with their domes, severe medieval towers and other fairy-tale, roman arch, pre-Columbian art, modern skyscrapers, and vertical structures taken from natural crystal shapes... and in the middle of the city a new element which should reunite all domes of all religions: a big golden egg.

Entrance

The entrance to the city

The first wall, in the bottom of the painting, is very irregular, as if it was an ancient wall. The entrance is open, there is no door for the city. By the two sides of the entrance there are two trees: the tree of fruits, and the tree of flowers, maturity and youth, wisdom and spontaneity. Two positive forces guiding our lives.
Hanging under the entrance there is a celtic symbol, the Triskel, which should mean "Strenght, Knowledge and Love".

the source of life

The Source of life and the Butterfly of freedom

From the divaricating tree's roots there flows out a source of light and life, a fall of bright water and silver fragments, which originate transparent water lake, evoking the primeval water where the first forms of life were supposed to begin... These irregular and multi-coloured fragments reminds of some microscopic creature dwelling in the ocean...
These irregular fragments decorated with multi-coloured mosaic mean that the city of future will be a mosaic of many colours, cultures, shapes...
The stone hand freeing the butterfly means that in the city of future there won't be any bonds nor prisons for any living creature any more.

La coppa dell'abbondanza

The cup of plenty

The figure of the laying man holding a cup is inspired by a famous statue in the city of Chicheniza, in the Yucatan peninsula (Mexico), repeated in many Mayas cities with different variations. It symbolizes offer to the gods... The cup itself is a symbol of fertility and plenty: in the city of future there won't be hunger any more.

the golden egg

The golden egg

After the first entrance, there is a green lawn from the hill to the second entrance, where the man with the cup lies. On top of the hill there is a fairy-tale tower, then Russian church domes, then leaned to the second wall, a big golden egg, symbol of origin and beginning, which synthetizes the different domes of the different religions.

La moschea

The Mosque

On the side of the egg, there is a Mosque with its dome and tower decorated with enamel which is typical of Islamic art.

Asia

Asia and Europe

Then a building of Cinese style and back a golden pagoda and a church decorated with a gothic rose window.

towers

Steel towers and crystal towers

In the middle of the city, behind the egg, there is the third entrance, which truly seems the entrance of a medieval castle, and behind it, completely contrasting, two modern skyscrapers and futurist building with a structure similar to the crystal one. Amid one building and the other there are plants, trees, green, and bridges and stairs connecting the towers. In the sky above the city, there fly many incredible objects, like jewels.
